Senator Omar Fernández discusses Amazon’s Project Kuiper for the Dominican Republic

Washington.- Senator Omar Fernández of the Fuerza del Pueblo party met with senior Amazon executives to discuss the feasibility of bringing Project Kuiper to the Dominican Republic. The initiative aims to expand satellite internet access and create jobs in the country’s poorest provinces.

During his visit to Amazon’s headquarters in Washington, Fernández highlighted the Dominican Republic’s favorable investment climate, citing macroeconomic stability and infrastructure development. He also committed to supporting legislative improvements in connectivity, artificial intelligence, and technological innovation to attract foreign investment.

Amazon executives, including representatives from digital policy, connectivity, and economic development, welcomed the discussion. Fernández urged them to prioritize the Dominican Republic in Project Kuiper’s first Latin American rollout, which could bring significant investment to the country.
