President Abinader and Carolina Mejía unveil Santo Domingo’s Integrated Development Plan

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader and Carolina Mejía have launched the Santo Domingo Integrated Plan, a strategic initiative aimed at fostering the city’s orderly growth through coordinated inter-institutional management. Centered on urban development, sustainability, and mobility, the plan will enhance key areas, including the Malecón de Santo Domingo, road connectivity, historic center preservation, and expansion of tourism and economic infrastructure. It also includes the creation of public spaces, green areas, and improved mobility systems for both drivers and pedestrians.

One of the plan’s landmark projects, Santo Domingo del Mar, will develop Paseo 30 de Mayo into a vibrant public park, while the Malecón Deportivo will feature 50,000 m² of green spaces, walking and cycling paths, and recreational facilities. A new skating rink is also planned for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games. Additionally, the Los Trinitarios Bridge aims to ease congestion in the historic center, and a world-class Marina and Cruise Port near Hotel Jaragua will boost tourism and global connectivity.

With this initiative, the Government and City Council seek to modernize Santo Domingo while ensuring long-term sustainability, improved urban planning, and economic growth.
