DIGESETT activates new digital radars for speed control on the country’s main roads

Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transport Security (DIGESETT) has put into operation the new digital speed control radars delivered last Monday by the Ministry of the Interior and Police and the General Directorate of the National Police. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to improve road safety and reduce traffic accidents in the country.
The director of DIGESETT, General Francisco Osoria de la Cruz, P.N., explained that these modern digital radars are designed to capture images of drivers driving at excessive speed. “With this innovative technology, traffic agents will no longer have to cross any vehicle to measure speed, and it will not be necessary to stop the driver to inspect him. The images captured by the radars will be automatically sent to the center, where the inspection will be displayed in the system,” General Osoria explained.
The new devices will be installed in various high-traffic arteries nationwide, allowing more effective surveillance and more agile road management. This implementation is expected to significantly reduce speeding violations and increase safety and peaceful coexistence between drivers.
“We invite all drivers to respect the established speed limits and to use the roads responsibly. Road safety is a shared responsibility and we must all do our part,” General Osoria concluded.
Great idea. Yet, if all traffic police did their jobs, there would be no need for the device. It is a device that carries a bureaucracy behind it to sustain its mission.
Ok. Now raise the speed limit to a normal cruising speed on the few well built autopistas….. del coral y del este. It’s difficult to drive only100kph for hours…
