Canadian man arrested with 32 packages of suspected Marijuana

Puerto Plata.- Authorities arrested a 39-year-old Canadian man and seized 32 packages of suspected marijuana during an inspection at General Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata.
Agents from the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), the Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESAC), and the Public Prosecutor’s Office conducted the operation based on intelligence reports. The drugs, weighing approximately 35 pounds, were discovered in the suspect’s luggage upon his arrival from Canada on a commercial flight.
The suspect was handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and will face legal proceedings under Law 50-88 on drugs and controlled substances. This arrest is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the country’s airports, ports, and borders.
