Taxi unions reach agreement with Puerto Taíno Bay in Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata.- The Federation of Taxi Drivers of the North Zone of Puerto Plata and the Union of Air and Sea Port Drivers (Sichopayma) reached an agreement with Puerto Taíno Bay executives after negotiations regarding their service conditions.
During a meeting at the cruise terminal, taxi representatives Feliz De Aza, Domingo Ortiz, and Guillermo Vásquez discussed their concerns with Puerto Taíno Bay director Gabriel Guevara, alongside municipal and business leaders, including Mayor Roquelito García and Regional Tourism Director Atahualpa Paulino.
The agreement allows taxi unions to station two representatives inside the terminal to inform cruise passengers about their services. Signage will also be installed to guide visitors to taxi areas. Additionally, Taíno Bay committed to stopping negative messaging about taxi drivers, addressing claims that tour operators discouraged passengers from using their services. The parties also agreed to hold monthly meetings to improve tourism services in Puerto Plata.
