Clean Rivers DR leads reforestation effort along Ozama River

Santo Domingo.- Clean Rivers DR conducted a reforestation campaign along the banks of the Ozama River within the Miyawaki Forest, located on Paseo del Río Avenue as part of the Domingo Savio project. The initiative, carried out in partnership with the Loyola 79 Foundation, aims to restore riparian ecosystems and promote water conservation.

Thomas Oronti, president of Clean Rivers DR, emphasized the project’s environmental and community benefits, calling the forest a “symbol of what can be achieved through collective action.” CEO Elizabeth Mena urged private sector involvement, stressing that environmental restoration is a shared responsibility with long-term social impact.

The Miyawaki Forest method, known for accelerating reforestation and enhancing biodiversity, is expected to improve air quality, water conservation, and environmental resilience in the area.
