Proindustria reclaims industrial lands in Santo Domingo Oeste

Santo Domingo.- The Center for Industrial Development and Competitiveness (Proindustria) conducted an eviction operation in the Santo Domingo Oeste Industrial District (Disdo) to recover land illegally occupied by squatters, reportedly undocumented Haitian immigrants.
The operation, carried out at 6:00 a.m., was backed by legal provisions, including the Dominican Constitution, Real Estate Registration Law 108-05, and Resolution No. 127. The occupied area, spanning over 316,000 square meters, housed around 100 illegal structures, including makeshift homes and an informal church. Industrialists in the area had raised concerns about the unauthorized settlements.
Proindustria’s director, Rafael Cruz Rodríguez, led the legal efforts to reclaim the land, with support from President Luis Abinader, Industry Minister Víctor Ito Bisonó, and National Police Director Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta. The recovered space is expected to attract new industrial investments, reinforcing Proindustria’s commitment to lawful economic development.
