ASODOFADE demands that Congress approve law on missing persons

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Association of Relatives of the Disappeared (ASODOFADE) is calling on the National Congress to approve legislation regulating missing persons cases in the Dominican Republic. The plea comes amid growing concerns over disappearances, highlighted by the recent case of Roldanis Calderón, a child who vanished while playing near Armando Bermúdez Park.

ASODOFADE President Evelyn Abreu stressed the urgency of legal reforms, noting that less developed countries like Paraguay, Guatemala, and El Salvador already have specific laws in place. She emphasized that disappearances impact entire communities and require a structured response system to ensure swift action and victim protection.
