UNICEF telethon raises over 24 million pesos for children in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The fifth edition of the “Together for Children” telethon, organized by UNICEF in the Dominican Republic, successfully raised RD$24.1 million on Sunday to support the agency’s ongoing programs for children’s welfare across the country.

The event was broadcast on state-run Channel 4 (RTVD) and twelve additional national and international channels. It featured appearances by several public figures, including UNICEF National Goodwill Ambassadors Manny Cruz and Jatnna Tavárez, who helped rally support for the cause.

In an official statement, UNICEF emphasized that the telethon aimed to unite Dominicans in a collective effort to improve children’s lives. The funds will support initiatives ensuring access to essential services such as healthcare, nutrition, quality education, clean water, and protection from violence. UNICEF’s representative, Carlos Carrera, thanked all donors and sponsors for their vital contributions to making the campaign a success.
