Government to build RD$600M Baní beach boardwalk

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader has confirmed the upcoming construction of the long-awaited boardwalk at Los Almendros beach in Baní, located in the Peravia province. The project, with a total investment of RD$600 million, will be executed in two stages: the first beginning within four to five months, and the second scheduled to start in 2026.
The announcement was made during a working session led by the president, joined by government officials and neighborhood council leaders, to evaluate current and future development projects in the province. Baní Mayor Santo Ramírez shared the news, emphasizing that the project is a long-standing demand of the local community, as reported by Municipios al Día.
The initiative also reflects efforts by Peravia deputy Luis Báez of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), who had previously submitted a resolution to Congress urging the government to move forward with the boardwalk. Báez has described the project as essential for boosting tourism and social development in the region, and called on President Abinader to instruct Tourism Minister David Collado to finalize its implementation.
