Santo Domingo.- New York City Mayor Eric Adams will travel to Santo Domingo this Monday, April 14, to express solidarity with the victims of the Jet Set nightclub tragedy, where a roof collapse claimed at least 226 lives and injured over 189 people.
Accompanied by Dominican Consul Jesús “Chú” Vásquez, Mayor Adams will meet with local authorities, families of victims, and members of the Dominican community. His schedule includes a breakfast with Dominican mayors at 8:15 a.m., followed by a meeting with emergency response leaders at the National Police General Directorate at 9:00 a.m.
A key moment in the visit will be his 11:00 a.m. stop at the Jet Set site, where he will pay tribute to the victims. Later, Adams will discuss structural safety with Public Works Minister Eduardo Estrella and visit the family of a retired NYPD detective who died in the collapse. The day will end with a public Mass at 8:00 p.m., led by Archbishop Francisco Ozoria, in honor of those lost. The visit underscores the strong ties between the Dominican Republic and its diaspora in New York.
