Families of Jet Set tragedy victims file new lawsuits against nightclub owners

Santo Domingo.- Relatives of the victims of the Jet Set nightclub tragedy have filed two new lawsuits—one criminal and one civil—against the nightclub’s owners. These actions were taken at the Ciudad Nueva Courthouse, according to Noticias SIN.

The lawsuits were filed by the families of Gustavo Noel Suero and Dr. Melissa Tejeda Sosa. They accuse nightclub owners Antonio Espaillat López and Ana Grecia López, the Mayor’s Office of the National District, and the Dominican State of negligence for failing to ensure proper safety measures at the venue, in violation of Law 176-07.

Attorney Félix Portes, who first disclosed the lawsuits via his X account, is also representing the family of another victim, Virgilio Rafael Cruz Aponte. Legal action in that case was taken by Cruz Aponte’s widow, Wendely Manely Ramírez Gómez, and his parents, Aide Dolores Aponte Moni and Dionys Rafael Cruz Rosario.
