Senate allocates RD$3 million for survivors and families affected by Jet Set tragedy

Santo Domingo.- The Senate office of the National District announced the allocation of RD$3,000,000.00 to support survivors and dependents of the victims of the Jet Set tragedy. These funds aim to address immediate needs such as medical treatment and tuition for minors under the care of those injured or deceased in the April 8 incident.

The initiative was led by the Jompeame Foundation, under the direction of Katherine Motyka, which identified affected families to ensure proper distribution of aid. The funds were sourced from the Senate’s Gadiel Fund and private sector contributions. Support is also being extended to elderly dependents of the victims until they can be incorporated into government social programs.

Senator Omar Fernández, who collaborated with Jompeame, stated that the disbursement process will be completed this week. He also plans to introduce a legislative proposal to provide additional long-term assistance to those impacted by the tragedy, reaffirming the Senate’s commitment to helping affected families.
