Authorities seize over half a million grams of drugs in April anti-narcotics operations
Santo Domingo.- In April, Dominican authorities intensified their crackdown on micro-narcotics trafficking, removing more than 582,000 grams of illicit drugs from circulation. The National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, conducted 215 raids and over 5,000 interdiction operations nationwide, resulting in 3,127 arrests.
During these efforts, agents confiscated 459,553 grams of suspected cocaine, 104,111 grams of marijuana, 18,338 grams of crack, along with smaller amounts of hashish, methamphetamines, heroin, tusi, and ecstasy. In addition to drugs, authorities seized weapons, vehicles, motorcycles, communication equipment, cash, and various other items used in drug operations.
These operations were concentrated in key provinces including the National District, Santo Domingo, Santiago, La Vega, and San Cristóbal.
