Bill proposed to declare Neiba the Dominican Republic’s “Capital of Grapes”
Bahoruco, DR.- In an effort to revive and strengthen grape production in Bahoruco province, PRM Congressman Juan Bolívar Cuevas has introduced a bill to officially declare Neiba the “Grape Capital” of the Dominican Republic.
Cuevas highlighted Neiba’s long-standing tradition and cultural significance in grape cultivation, calling it a vital economic engine for the southwest region. The proposal aims to institutionalize the city’s role in national viticulture and support the creation of public policies that drive growth in the wine industry, agro-tourism, and rural development—ultimately improving the quality of life for those who rely on grape farming.

Guess government finds it easier to pass bills about a grape capital rather than to enact bills that force authorities to actually secure the border from illegal trafficking.
