Igualando RD Seal positively impacts over 61,000 workers
Santo Domingo.- In celebration of International Labor Day, Dominican authorities highlighted the progress of the Igualando RD Seal during the “Exchange of Good Practices in the Manufacturing Sector” event, hosted at the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD). This initiative, led by the Ministry of Women and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs with UNDP support, has positively influenced over 61,600 employees (45% women) by fostering inclusive and equitable work environments in 30 participating companies.
Leaders from both public and private sectors praised the seal’s impact. AIRD president Julio Brache emphasized how the seal positions industries as labor practice leaders. Women’s Minister Mayra Jiménez and UNDP’s Ana María Díaz underscored its value in driving innovation and competitiveness through gender equality. MICM Minister Ito Bisonó highlighted policy actions like studies, leadership training, and a roadmap for closing gender gaps in the industry. A panel featuring business leaders also shared best practices and tangible benefits from implementing the seal, such as better productivity, retention, and workplace climate.
The Igualando RD Seal—a management model aligned with the National Gender Equity Plan and Development Strategy—recognizes companies at bronze to platinum levels for meeting NORDOM 775 standards. It supports the 2025–2028 roadmap for reducing gender gaps in manufacturing. As of now, eight companies have achieved Platinum, 30 have Gold, one has Silver, and one has Bronze. The program has helped eliminate workplace discrimination, boost women’s leadership opportunities, and improve employee satisfaction, engagement, and internal communication.
