U.S. Embassy denies ties to Dominican AI platform “María”
Santo Domingo.- The U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo has officially denied any affiliation with the artificial intelligence platform “María,” developed by Dominican businessman José Gómez Canaán, also known as Jochi Gómez. Embassy spokesperson Michelle Angulo clarified to Listín Diario that the U.S. government had no role in the creation or operation of the platform.
“María” is designed to analyze public tender data using algorithms capable of detecting suspicious patterns across millions of records. Gómez presented the platform as a tool to enhance transparency and justice.
The project was introduced during an event featuring Roger Stone, former advisor to Donald Trump. At the event, Gómez emphasized that “María” is a serious initiative, not an experimental tool, and aims to serve as a technological ally in the fight against corruption.
