Santo Domingo.- The Mining and Petroleum Chamber of the Dominican Republic (CAMIPE) reports that the mining sector is rebounding and reaffirming its role as a key driver of the country’s economic development. In March alone, mining sales surged by 36.4%, reaching RD$11.18 billion, with over 86% of revenue coming from exports.

Mining exports totaled USD $574.6 million, up 20.1% year-over-year, with gold accounting for more than 88% of the export value. Major export markets include India, Canada, and the United States.

The sector also made a notable fiscal contribution, generating RD$7.6 billion in tax revenue in Q1—an increase of 158.9% compared to the same period last year. In terms of employment, the industry supports over 7,000 formal jobs with an average monthly salary of RD$72,175, nearly double the national average.
