Over 30 undocumented Haitians detained after street fight in Dajabón
Dajabón.- More than 30 undocumented Haitian nationals were detained by the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) following a violent altercation in the Hoyo de Lima sector of Dajabón. Reports indicate that at least one individual was injured in the fight, allegedly stabbed by a fellow compatriot.
The operation, conducted by DGM interdiction teams with support from the Dominican Army, was launched in response to complaints from local residents. The undocumented migrants had reportedly blended into the crowd after attending the local border market fair.
Authorities expanded the operation to other nearby areas, including the northern neighborhood and around the market, where additional groups of undocumented individuals were found, including some hiding in an unfinished house.
Among those detained were two women and several men, all of whom were transported in DGM vehicles to a processing center. There, they were registered using biometric systems and scheduled for repatriation to Haiti on Tuesday via the border crossing.
