Santo Domingo Metro and Cable Car extend hours starting July 31

Santo Domingo.- The Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET) announced that beginning July 31, the Santo Domingo Metro and Line 1 of the Cable Car (Gualey to Charles de Gaulle) will extend their operating hours. From Monday to Friday, service will run from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and on Saturdays until 10:00 p.m.

This measure, part of the government’s “RD se Mueve” plan, aims to improve urban mobility and accommodate early commuters heading to work or school. OPRET noted that the change is made possible thanks to the dedication of its staff, who begin preparations as early as 3:00 a.m., and maintenance crews who work overnight to ensure smooth operations.

Additionally, six-car trains will be added to Metro Lines 1 and 2 between late July and early August to meet increasing demand.
