Dominican Republic and Ecuador sign pact to boost trust in digital transactions

Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Republic and Ecuador have signed a bilateral cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening legal security and trust in digital transactions through the mutual recognition of electronic signatures. The agreement was formalized virtually between the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (INDOTEL) and Ecuador’s Telecommunications Regulation and Control Agency (ARCOTEL).
The pact promotes the technical interoperability of both countries’ Public Key Infrastructures (PKI) and enables the legal use of electronic signatures in cross-border transactions. This cooperation will enhance secure digital interactions, facilitate e-commerce, and boost institutional and citizen trust.
This marks INDOTEL’s third international digital agreement, following previous partnerships with Uruguay and Costa Rica, reinforcing its leadership in advancing a secure regional digital ecosystem. The collaboration includes areas such as infrastructure interoperability, regulatory development, technical training, and joint research on digital trust services.
