Fire breaks out at Moon Palace resort construction

La Altagracia.- A fire has been burning since Thursday in the basement of the Moon Palace resort, currently under construction in Verón-Punta Cana. As of Friday, authorities reported that no injuries or fatalities have occurred.

According to Diario Libre, the Punta Cana Fire Department has managed to contain approximately 80% of the blaze, particularly in the upper section of the affected area. However, emergency teams remain on high alert due to the fire’s proximity to storage areas with flammable materials.

The Moon Palace resort is scheduled to open in spring 2026 and is still in the development phase.
