Gang dismantled in Santo Domingo Oeste, 61 cell phones and several motorcycles seized

Santo Domingo — The National Police reported that they have dismantled a gang involved in violent cell phone robberies and snatching in areas of the National District and Santo Domingo Oeste.

The law enforcement agency specified that this was carried out through the Operations Office of the Department of Crimes and Crimes Against Property (Theft), in an operation conducted on the night of Thursday, July 17, 2025.

The action was taken in response to an increase in citizen complaints and the dissemination of videos on social media that demonstrated the crimes committed by members of this criminal organization.

They reported in a press release that during the operation, Julio Miguel García, alias Churry, 30; Yeurie Erison Lara Lara, alias Vale, 25; and Reymon Vásquez Morillo, also 25; all residents of different areas of Herrera, Santo Domingo Oeste.

At the time of their arrest, they were seized two Bajaj Platina motorcycles, two protective helmets, and the coats they used to commit the robberies.

In addition, 61 cell phones of various makes and models were seized, the result of being snatched from citizens in public spaces.

Later, in the continuation of the operation, the agents moved to Fabio Fiallo Street in the Duarte neighborhood and Second Street in the Enriquillo sector, where they seized two motorcycles abandoned by two known criminals identified as Robert Luis Veloz, alias Chuki, and Ronny Alexander Vargas de León, alias Ronny, who managed to escape after a police chase.

The police are actively searching for these fugitives, as well as others identified only by their aliases: Bombi, El Bruto, Manguera, La Volanta, and Isidro, to apprehend them and bring them to justice.
