Trough will bring moderate rains

Moderate to heavy downpours, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, are expected today in San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, San Cristóbal, La Vega, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña, Independencia, Baoruco, La Altagracia, Samaná, Duarte, María Trinidad Sánchez, and Santo Domingo.

The Dominican Meteorological Institute (Indomet) also reported that the rains will be caused by the persistence of a trough in the northwest of the country and will occur from morning until late afternoon and into the evening.

The agency predicts that temperatures will remain hot, due to the time of year and the influence of dust particles from the Sahara.
