Six dead, dozens injured in tragic bus accident in Espaillat province
Espaillat, D.R.- A devastating bus accident on the Moca–Jamao highway in Espaillat province claimed the lives of six people and left more than 40 injured on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred near La Cumbre in the municipality of San Víctor, when a bus carrying passengers returning from a tour in Río San Juan overturned.
According to San Víctor Mayor Pedro Estrella, four victims died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries at the Toribio Bencosme Provincial Hospital. Several of the injured were transferred to hospitals in Santiago de los Caballeros for treatment.
Emergency response was swift, with the National Emergency and Safety System 911 coordinating a large-scale operation. Over ten ambulances, units from the National Police, the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett), firefighters, and brigades from the Ministry of Public Works were deployed to assist in rescue and recovery efforts.
