Floating Bridge over Ozama River to close for maintenance
Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has announced that the Floating Bridge over the Ozama River will be closed to vehicular traffic for five days, from Saturday, August 9 at 12:00 noon to Wednesday, August 13 at 12:00 noon, as part of scheduled preventive maintenance. The work will be carried out with the support of the Dominican Naval Industry, which specializes in maritime and river infrastructure.
To reduce the impact on traffic, a special mobility plan has been coordinated with INTRANT, DIGESETT, and municipal authorities. Alternate routes have been designated:
-
East to West: Ramón Matías Mella (Bicycle Bridge) and Juan Bosch bridges, with extended morning counterflow.
-
West to East: Juan Pablo Duarte and Ramón Matías Mella bridges, with expanded evening counterflow.
Drivers are also advised to avoid the affected area by using Puerto Avenue (Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deñó) or George Washington Avenue, and connecting via Mexico Avenue or 27 de Febrero.
DIGESETT and COMIPOL will assist with traffic flow, and real-time updates will be available on Waze and Google Maps.
