Punta Cana System advances partnership with Ministry of Education to develop arts in the East

Punta Cana.- Members of the Punta Cana System’s board met with the Ministry of Education’s Department of Arts Education (DEMA) to explore a strategic alliance aimed at boosting cultural and educational development in Regional 12, particularly the rapidly growing Verón–Punta Cana area. The goal is to unite efforts from the government, civil society, and private sector to address the region’s urgent need for enhanced educational and cultural opportunities.

The collaboration seeks to transform arts education into a driver of social, cultural, and economic progress. Attendees included key representatives from DEMA, the Punta Cana Foundation for Cultural and Artistic Expansion (Funeyca PC), Taíno Gifts, and the Punta Cana Group Foundation. Discussions advanced plans for a pilot musical training program offering free arts education to children and youth from public schools and vulnerable communities, with funding and teacher support from the Ministry of Education.

Additionally, Taíno Gifts proposed technical internships and partnerships with the tourism sector to provide arts students with hands-on experience in crafts, design, dance, and cultural gastronomy, fostering entrepreneurship and job opportunities. Plans were also discussed to establish a new Arts Program Center in Verón–Punta Cana, integrating eight official arts disciplines through shared management between the State and local partners.
