Moca residents protest agricultural crisis and rising food prices

Moca.- Dozens of citizens marched in Moca this Thursday during the Civic and Popular Parade, organized by Los Peregrinos de Moca, the Front of Struggle, Unity and Progress (FLUP), and the Cibao Coalition. The protest targeted the agricultural crisis and the high cost of basic goods, with participants denouncing government neglect of rural areas and the struggles faced by farmers.

The demonstration began at the intersection of Tunti Cáceres and Doctor Guerrero streets, where protesters staged a symbolic act by throwing an effigy of Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz into a trash can, accusing him of indifference toward the sector’s hardships.

Organizers called the march a success, noting the involvement of young people, housewives, merchants, workers, and producers. With banners and chants, attendees vowed that “Moca will not give up” and declared that “the people have the final say” against what they described as the authorities’ silence and disregard.
