Dominican Republic strengthens anti-drug efforts with record seizures
Quantico, Virginia.- Vice Admiral José M. Cabrera Ulloa, president of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), praised President Luis Abinader’s leadership in combating drug trafficking and transnational crime during the graduation of the 124th class of the Sensitive Investigation Unit (SIU) Basic Course at the DEA Training Center in Quantico, Virginia.
Over the past five years, the Dominican Republic has seized more than 224 tons of illicit drugs, setting a regional record. Cabrera Ulloa emphasized that this success reflects the professionalism of DNCD agents, trained in tactical, investigative, and international cooperation skills, supported by the DEA through training, intelligence, and operational collaboration.
Special Agent Michael A. Miranda of the DEA’s Caribbean Division congratulated the graduates and acknowledged the leadership of Cabrera Ulloa and the DNCD, highlighting the strengthened joint capabilities in tackling organized crime and the value of international cooperation.

The more seizures the better. However, these seizures represent only the tip of the iceberg of drug trafficking activities infecting the RD.
