Dominican Republic congratulates Ukraine on Independence Day

Santo Domingo.- Ukraine marked its Independence Day, commemorating the historic year of 1991 when the country affirmed its right to freedom and self-determination after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The celebration highlighted 34 years of resilience and the ongoing struggle to preserve sovereignty.

The Dominican Republic joined the occasion by emphasizing the importance of strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties with Kyiv. In recent years, both nations have advanced interparliamentary cooperation and cultural exchange initiatives aimed at bringing their peoples closer together.

Diplomatic representatives noted that, despite the geographic distance, Dominicans and Ukrainians share common values: the defense of freedom, mutual respect, and the pursuit of prosperity. The commemoration also served as a reminder of the importance of building bridges of friendship between the two countries.
