Abinader reaffirms fight against all cartels, including Cartel of the Suns
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader reiterated his administration’s determination to combat drug trafficking, emphasizing that efforts extend to all criminal organizations, including the Cartel of the Suns. He highlighted that the Dominican Republic’s fight against narcotics has been acknowledged both domestically and by the United States.
The Cartel of the Suns, according to intelligence reports from the U.S. and other international agencies, is a criminal network made up of high-ranking Venezuelan military officers. The group is accused of trafficking large volumes of cocaine from Colombia through Venezuela, the Caribbean, and Central America, with destinations in the United States and Europe.
Abinader stressed that his government will continue to strengthen measures and maintain a firm stance against drug cartels to safeguard the country and its role in regional security.
