JCE unveils draft of new ID card

Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) presented the draft of the new identity and electoral card to the Economic and Social Development Council of Santo Domingo (Codessd) and the Civic Participation Movement (PC), highlighting the document’s technical and security innovations. The presentation took place at the Specialized Institute for Political, Electoral, and Civil Status Training.

The new ID card incorporates enhanced anti-counterfeiting measures, electronic functionalities, and modernization of the civil and electoral registration system in line with international standards. Civil society representatives, including leaders from Codessd and PC, praised the initiative and expressed interest in its implementation.

JCE stressed that engaging various sectors aims to strengthen public trust, promote transparency, and ensure the ID card is secure, inclusive, and aligned with democratic principles.
