Dominican Republic and Panama strengthen trade ties

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez and Panama’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Julio Moltó, held a working meeting to advance trade and cooperation between the two countries. As chairs of the Permanent Joint Committee of the Partial Scope Agreement, they reviewed progress and discussed expanding the list of products with tariff preferences to strengthen bilateral exchange.

The talks also addressed the licensing of Panamanian processing plants for exports to the Dominican Republic, ensuring compliance with local standards with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX). Both delegations highlighted opportunities for complementary agreements in logistics, free trade zones, distribution, and manufacturing, with Panama showing particular interest in learning from the Dominican model in these areas.
