Migration chief reinforces control operations in Eastern Dominican Republic

Higüey.- The Director General of Migration (DGM), Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, carried out an air and ground inspection tour in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic to reinforce immigration control operations in coordination with the Armed Forces and the National Police. The tour included overflights of strategic areas and meetings with senior commanders to strengthen surveillance at critical points.

Lee Ballester personally inspected communities such as Friusa, Matamosquitos, Verón, and Villa Playwood, as well as sections of the Eastern Highway, where the presence of migrants in irregular status has been reported. He also visited the construction site of a new interagency military camp, urging troops to act with discipline, professionalism, and respect for human dignity.

At Punta Cana International Airport, he met with staff to emphasize compliance with immigration protocols, the Citizen Commitment Charter, and principles of legality. The DGM reaffirmed that these measures aim to maintain order in the country’s most important tourist hub, ensuring security, migration control, and respect for human rights.

It could be suspect he is doing this reinforcement to increase his visibility. The local migration people could do same without him. Is this behavior of his part of an agenda for his future political ambitions?
