Power outages announced in Santo Domingo due to construction work

Santo Domingo.- Edesur Dominicana announced scheduled power outages this Thursday in several sectors of Greater Santo Domingo, due to construction work by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the Office for Transportation Reorganization (OPRET). The interruptions, lasting from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., are linked to two major infrastructure projects.

The first, the Road and Environmental Solution Project on Avenida República de Colombia and surrounding areas, will affect neighborhoods including Los Girasoles, Palma Real, Los Peralejos, Monumental, Ciudad Real, and several residential sectors. Authorities say the project aims to improve urban mobility, protect the environment, and enhance the quality of life for more than 1.4 million residents of Greater Santo Domingo.

Meanwhile, OPRET’s expansion of Line 2C of the Santo Domingo Metro in Los Alcarrizos will also require temporary power cuts in parts of Santo Domingo Oeste and Los Alcarrizos. Communities such as Pueblo Nuevo, Colinas del Norte, Savica, Carmen Renata, Vista Verde, and Don Gregorio will be impacted. Edesur has asked residents for their understanding regarding the inconvenience.
