Dominican Republic’s DNCD participates in global DEA forum

Nashville, Tennessee.- The president of the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD), Vice Admiral José M. Cabrera Ulloa, reaffirmed the Dominican Republic’s commitment to international cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking during the 39th International Drug Control Conference (IDEC XXXIX), held August 26–28, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Cabrera Ulloa highlighted the progress achieved under President Luis Abinader’s administration, stressing the importance of strengthening alliances, sharing intelligence, and adapting strategies to address the rise of synthetic drugs. He also met with U.S. DEA Deputy Director Dan Salter and participated in bilateral meetings to expand regional cooperation.

The DEA praised the Dominican Republic’s role, with Caribbean Special Agent in Charge Michael A. Miranda recognizing the DNCD’s “exemplary work” and reaffirming the agency’s commitment to continue working closely with the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico to combat transnational organized crime in the Caribbean.
