Montecristi.- Energía 2000 announced the arrival of the Energos Freeze, a floating liquefied natural gas storage and regasification unit (FSRU), at Manzanillo Bay, marking a key milestone in the development of the Manzanillo Power Land thermoelectric project.
The vessel, which has a capacity of 125,000 cubic meters of LNG, docked on Sunday, August 31, at the new port facilities built for this purpose. From its station, it will guarantee a steady supply of fuel to the plant, enabling continuous reception of LNG shipments, their transfer to the floating unit, and subsequent distribution via pipeline. This operation ensures stable and reliable energy production.
With this step, the Dominican Republic advances in diversifying its energy mix and strengthening its transition toward cleaner and more competitive sources. The Manzanillo Power Land plant is expected to help address the country’s electricity shortages, significantly reducing blackouts that have recently affected households and businesses. Energía 2000 described the vessel’s arrival as “a historic milestone for national energy security and the well-being of Dominicans.”

So this is now part of the Manzanillo station? Is the DR paying rent on the vessel, or does it belong to the govt?
