Propeep launches “El Paseo de los Colores,” celebrating Dominican identity

Santo Domingo.- Robert Polanco, director of Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency (Propeep), presented the first edition of the album El Paseo de los Colores at the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National Library. He described the work as a tribute to Dominican cultural values and identity, highlighting how urban art has revitalized neighborhoods and strengthened community spirit.

Polanco explained that the initiative began as a mural program and has evolved into a cultural and documentary piece that celebrates Dominican history, national symbols, independence heroes, and influential figures in sports, literature, religion, and community life. He stressed that each mural transformed public spaces, inspired hope, and created a sense of belonging, turning art into a tool for education and cultural preservation.

Over the past seven months, the Dominican Cultural and Creative Directorate has developed 60 Paseos de los Colores across the country, covering more than 36,000 square meters of urban art. Polanco affirmed that the program is more than a cultural project—it is a movement that gives voice to communities and reflects national pride. The event gathered government officials, artists, cultural managers, and civil society representatives who endorsed the initiative.
