Abinader tours Santo Domingo’s new Metro Line 2C

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader toured the new Line 2C of the Santo Domingo Metro, which extends from María Montez station at Km 9 of the Duarte Highway to the new Los Alcarrizos terminal. He highlighted the system’s safety and efficiency, noting that it will reduce travel times by up to 60% and directly benefit over one million residents of Santo Domingo Oeste and Los Alcarrizos.

The president confirmed that the project remains on schedule and will be inaugurated in February 2026. He also announced that the Pablo Adón Guzmán station will include a GOB point to expand access to government services. Line 2C, currently in its finishing stage, covers 7.3 kilometers with five stations named after figures in Dominican culture and sports, and includes a 940-meter tunnel plus a new 6.5-km marginal road parallel to the Duarte Highway.

According to OPRET director Rafael Santos Pérez, the extension represents one of the country’s largest transportation investments, totaling RD$30 billion. He stressed that funds have been managed responsibly to guarantee safety and quality.
