MIREX denies reopening of Venezuelan consulates in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) denied this Wednesday rumors about the reopening of Venezuelan consular services in the Dominican Republic, clarifying that the information circulating in some media and social networks is false.

According to MIREX, both the Dominican embassy and consulate in Caracas, as well as the Venezuelan embassy and consulate in Santo Domingo, have remained closed since July 2024. The closures followed the crisis sparked by Venezuela’s presidential elections, when the Venezuelan government ordered the departure of Dominican diplomats. Since then, consular services between both nations have been suspended, affecting citizens who need official procedures.

The institution stressed that no reopening or negotiations are underway and reminded the public that any official updates will only be announced through MIREX’s communication channels.
