Dominican Jewish community welcomes New Year 5786 with Rosh Hashanah celebration

Santo Domingo.- The Jewish community in the Dominican Republic celebrated the arrival of the Hebrew New Year 5786 with a Rosh Hashanah gathering on September 22 at the Sambil Auditorium. The event brought together hundreds of participants for a night of worship, reflection, and cultural expression.

Led by Kabbalistic master Jonathan Piña, the celebration emphasized introspection and spiritual renewal, encouraging attendees to begin a “sweet and pleasant” year. The program featured meditation, live performances by artists Natán el Profeta and Rubinsky Rbk, and raffles for participants.

In addition to the in-person gathering, the event reached a wider audience through a live YouTube broadcast, which attracted nearly 30,000 viewers. With this commemoration, the Dominican Jewish community joined millions worldwide in welcoming the Jewish New Year with gratitude, hope, and unity.
