UASD shooting update: What caused it, status of wounded, and what shooter said

After the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) was the scene of a shooting involving a law student, in which two members of its security staff were seriously injured, the institution’s Communications Director explained the circumstances that led to the incident.

Roberto Tejada Muñoz stated that “the young man is a law student. The night before, he had a situation with security, and they withheld his documents on campus . He returned the next day to retrieve them. Apparently, he didn’t come with good intentions because he was accompanied by another person and had a firearm in the vehicle,” he explained.

He added that after that, Alexander Jiménez Galván, 35, “moved to another area of the university and that’s where he met with the security guards.”

According to Tejada, the night before the incident, the student had been driving his vehicle in a dark, restricted area within the UASD, prompting the intervention of security personnel and the seizure of his documents.
