Temperatures are dropping! A mass of polar air begins to influence the Dominican Republic.

The first mass of polar air of the season will begin arriving tonight in the north of the Dominican Republic, so that the atmosphere will be cooler than normal across much of the country.

Meteorological analyst Jean Suriel announced this through his social media.

Suriel said that the fourth cold front has stalled north of the Caribbean, and another frontal system is moving towards the region.

He warned that temperatures could drop between Saturday and Sunday:

• Pico Duarte -1°C

• Valle Nuevo 2°C

• Constance 13°C

• Manabao 13°C

• Deep Valley 14°C

• The Enclosure 15°C

• Polo-Barahona 15°C

• Jarabacoa 16°C

• Ocoa 16°C

• Padre Las Casas 16°C

• San José de las Matas 16°C

• San Juan 17°C

• Las Matas de Farfán 17°C

• Moca 19°C

• Santo Domingo 20°C

“For this afternoon and evening, the forecast predicts moderate to heavy rainfall in the north, northeast, Central Mountain Range, northwest and southeast due to the influence of a trough,” he explained.

Suriel indicated that the polar air is associated with two cold fronts that affected the United States in the last five days, leaving sub-zero temperatures in several American states.

While the most significant cold snap will be recorded in the mountainous areas and the Cibao region tomorrow, Saturday night, and early Sunday morning, the atmosphere will be very calm between 6 PM and 9 AM over the next three days.

A trough will also approach the Dominican territory in the next 24 hours, increasing downpours in much of the country: heavy rains are expected tomorrow, Saturday afternoon, which will increase the potential for some flash floods.

The effects of the trough will continue through Sunday and Monday afternoon, bringing more periods of moderate rainfall to our country.

He reminded everyone that “it is November and the La Niña climate phenomenon is active; umbrellas in hand.”
