MIVED reopens Chinese-owned business Dulce Hogar
Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED) has authorized the reopening of the Dulce Hogar store in the National District after confirming that the business met all technical and regulatory requirements established by the Directorate of Private Works Supervision. The establishment had been temporarily closed in early September under Law 687-82 and Technical Regulations R-004 and R-021, which mandate construction licenses and final inspection certifications before a building can be occupied or operated.
Edgar Pellerano, Director of Private Works Supervision, stated that inspectors verified full compliance and therefore issued the reopening certificate. He reiterated Minister Carlos Bonilla’s message that only businesses that complete the conciliation process and provide the necessary documentation will be allowed to resume operations.
As part of its regularization, Dulce Hogar carried out structural improvements to ensure safety, including installing stiffeners on main beams, reinforcing beam-column connections with metal plates, certifying field welds, and replacing or adjusting bolts according to design specifications.
MIVED noted that, of the eleven establishments closed in September, five others have already submitted their documentation and are awaiting approval. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting remaining businesses through the process while ensuring that all operate under safe conditions for the public.
