The Spanish company CLERHP inaugurated the first phase of the Larimar City & Resort real estate and tourism complex, the first “Smart City” in the Dominican Republic.

More than 300 guests, including Government officials, representatives from the business and social sectors, company investors, and strategic partners, gathered for the inauguration ceremony marking the institutional launch of the most innovative urban developments in Latin America.

The inauguration coincided with National Larimar Day, celebrating one of the country’s authentic precious stones.

The first “Smart City” is being built in the La Otra Banda sector of Punta Cana, in the province of La Altagracia, covering an area of 3,600,000 square meters and featuring an initial investment of 600 million euros.

The project, which has received support from the Dominican Government, is part of ProDominicana’s investment portfolio.

Juan Andrés Romero, general manager and CEO of Larimar City & Resort and president of CLERHP, highlighted the project’s international relevance.

“Larimar was created to redefine the way cities of the future are conceived. It is not just a real estate development, it is a project that combines innovation, sustainability, and strategic vision, and demonstrates CLERHP’s ability to lead urban initiatives with a global reach,” said Romero.

He emphasized that the idea for Larimar is the result of more than a decade of work and commitment to innovation in the Dominican Republic. After his speech, the authorities performed the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony.

During the ceremony, the Funeyca Foundation received funds raised by the company for its social work in the Punta Cana region, which benefits young people through music and culture. After a cocktail reception for the attendees, the celebration ended with the sunset at Farallón de Punta Cana.

The event was attended by Pilar Serret Murga, economic and commercial advisor to the Spanish Embassy, representing the Kingdom of Spain, and the mayor of La Otra Banda, Alexander Rodríguez.

The event was blessed by the Bishop of the province of La Altagracia, Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte.
