Three Dominicans in Obama’s Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative
Santo Domingo.- The United States Embassy in Santo Domingo recentlyannounced the participation of three young Dominican entrepreneurs in the YoungLeaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI), lanced by president Barack Obama.
The initiative aims to invest in, and accelerate the work theyoung leaders to forge more prosperous and secure communities throughout thehemisphere.
Maricha Martinez Sosa, Emil Rodriguez and Aristides Rubio wereselected to represent the Dominican Republic in the regional event that gathers250 young entrepreneurs from 35 Latin American countries.
Participants will travel in October to the United Statesfor five weeks where they will have the opportunity to strengthen theirleadership, innovation and entrepreneurship skills.
They’ll also participate in activities to establishcontacts with entrepreneurs, innovators and investors of the region and tobolster networking throughout the hemisphere.
“President Barack Obama made the launch of the YLAI initiativelast year, in order to expand opportunities for entrepreneurs and innovatorsemerging civil society in Latin America and the Caribbean,” the US embassy saidin an emailed statement.
