Santo Domingo.- On October 8th, the Centro Cultural de España was the stage for a captivating cultural event as renowned Taiwanese-Dominican writer Yuan Fuei Liao introduced his latest poetry collection, In/fimitos. This unique collection explores the concepts of the infinitesimal, the intimate and the infinite, presenting a thought-provoking and imaginative journey for readers.
The launch event featured storytelling, music, poetry readings and a live interview with the author. Acclaimed singer-songwriter and storyteller Ester Hernández served as the event’s host, creating a captivating atmosphere with her engaging presentation.
Rafael J. Rodríguez Pérez, editor and president of Río de Oro Editores, the publishing house behind In/fimitos, emphasized the significance of this new addition to their Cierva Blanca collection. Rodríguez described Liao’s work as a testament to the power of language, noting the poet’s ability to blend the ordinary and extraordinary with remarkable skill.
“The association of images, some rare and new, the play with phonemes, the winks in the syntax, the playful emphasis of the verses, the savor of colloquialisms and words from popular speech make this poem collection a rare bird within island poetry,” Rodríguez remarked.
The event also featured a musical interpretation of the poem “Ladr/idos” by Laura Sánchez Vincitore, adding another layer of depth and emotion to the evening. The event culminated in a live interview where Liao discussed his inspirations, writing process, and future projects, offering insightful reflections on poetry, faith, and the creative process.
