Dominican Joayda Herrera wins silver at Italian Cuisine Championship

Italy.- Dominican chef Joayda Herrera won silver in the Signature Street Food category at the Italian Cuisine Championship, an event organized by the Italian Federation of Chefs (FIC) and recognized by Worldchefs. The competition, held in Rimini, Italy, featured over 500 participants from February 16-18.
Herrera impressed judges with a savory donut inspired by Molise’s traditional flavors, featuring a slow-cooked mix of pork, beef, and sausages, complemented by tomato sauce. She and her team added a unique touch by incorporating crispy pork rind, prepared using a modern cooking technique.
Competing alongside two colleagues, Herrera celebrated the achievement, stating that Dominicans can succeed internationally through dedication and passion. The French team secured gold, while the Italian team, which included Herrera, claimed silver, and bronze went to another competitor. The event took place within the “Beer & Food Attraction” expo, marking its ninth edition and reinforcing its reputation in the global culinary scene.
