Abinader honors Zoe Saldaña with the Heraldic Order of Christopher Columbus

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader, alongside Vice President Raquel Peña and First Lady Raquel Arbaje, awarded Dominican actress Zoe Saldaña the Heraldic Order of Christopher Columbus in the Degree of Commander in recognition of her distinguished film career and contributions to promoting Dominican culture internationally. The ceremony, held in the Las Cariátides Hall of the National Palace, was officiated through decree 165-25. Accompanied by her husband, Marco Perego, her mother, Asalia Nazario, and her stepfather, Dagoberto Galán, Saldaña received praise from the president, who highlighted her as a symbol of Dominican success on the global stage.
Expressing gratitude, Saldaña described the honor as “a dream come true”, reaffirming her deep connection to the Dominican Republic. She reflected on how moving to the country after her father’s passing helped shape her identity and values, which she now instills in her children. She emphasized her ongoing pride in representing the nation in her career. Minister of Culture Roberto Ángel Salcedo also commended Saldaña’s dedication, calling her a role model of perseverance and talent.
