Santo Domingo.- The power lines of Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone are being installed underground by the Electricity Distribution Utility (EdeEste), as part of an ambitious project long in the works.

“The work complies with one of the key parts of the rescue and rehabilitation process of this historical heritage that, without above-ground power lines, will enjoy a better and attractive view, open air, for residents and tourists who visit this metropolitan destination,” said the Colonial City Tourism Development Program in a statement.

It adds that he dismantling of the overhead power lines began at Meriño St., between García and Billini streets, and then continues along Mercedes Av., Restauracion St. and Isabel la Católica Av
